Be Present:

Stop the comparison:

Comparison is by no means a beneficial parenting strategy. You will only bring yourself and your family dissatisfaction and misery by comparing yourself or your kids to others.  Remember that you are an individual with your own skills, talents, parenting styles, and approaches; what others are doing is not important to you.

Setting limits:

Limits ought to be established as soon as incorrect behavior is suspected. Before things worsen and your kids begin to take things for granted, you must take this action.

You can set boundaries with kindness, courtesy, and even humor, but make sure it is clear and obvious that you are in charge of the rules. Do not intimidate or use a stern voice toward your children; instead, speak to them in a gentle and friendly manner. Keep in mind that your kids want to have a good relationship with you.

Be a happy person yourself:

Children’s emotional issues are frequently related to parental emotional issues.  “happy parents are more likely to raise happy children,” while unhappy people are also said to be less effective parents.

Finding out what makes you happy or gives you the most happiness and pleasure requires conscious effort. Make it a point to learn how you may increase your level of joy and happiness in your life.

Ask for help:

Your efforts as a parent require and merit a lot of support from the members of your family, your parents, friends, coworkers, and the neighborhood. Ask for assistance when you are in a scenario where you are completely at a loss for what to do or how to handle an issue.

There is a good chance that thousands of other parents have experienced something similar to what you are going through right now, so by reaching out and asking for support, you will get a lot of suggestions about what has worked for others and might potentially work for you.

Play with children:

We simply can’t express how much joy playing with your kids may bring. Playtime has been shown in various studies to be important for children’s learning and development. Give your kids extra playtime in addition to participating in it with them; this does not relate to digital games or games on their phones or iPads, but rather free play, ideally outside.

A lack of unstructured play can affect children’s development in ways that affect their physical, social, emotional, and mental health, according to research.

Forgive, ask forgiveness and teach forgiveness:

Remember that mistakes are a necessary part of learning. Both children and adults make mistakes sometimes. When your kids do something wrong or make a mistake, forgive them and let them know you do.  It’s also important to ensure you own up to your mistakes and beg for their pardon when necessary, as parenting while feeling guilty just makes things worse.

Children need to learn to forgive in order to be happy, and unforgiveness has even been related to anxiety and depression.

Children who are taught to forgive are more likely to experience happiness and life satisfaction because they are able to transform their negative thoughts about the past into positive ones.

You can do this by setting an example by forgiving people who have mistreated you in general as well as those who have wronged your children. Take steps to settle personal disputes and talk to your kids about the value of forgiving others.

Compliment your kids:

Find a reason to compliment your kids every day. This may be something minor and irrelevant on some days, and highly important on others. Your children will feel better and have more confidence if you compliment them, and you’ll feel better about your parenting abilities.

Look at the bigger picture:

Here, we’re stressing the value of focusing the process above the end result. It is believed that parents who place an excessive emphasis on accomplishments are more likely to raise kids who struggle with mental health. Children who focus on effort and attitude rather than the desired outcome eventually experience better success.

So keep keeping an eye out for opportunities to praise your kids’ efforts. It might be a positive outlook, responsible behavior, academic improvement, or pretty much anything else that is noteworthy and deserving of support.

Let the children be themselves:

It is crucial that children develop their decision-making skills. Despite the fact that you cannot give kids complete freedom, you can give them the option of choosing wholesome things and safe places. Giving children some power is important and necessary, therefore it is best to let them select among acceptable options for holiday activities, dinners, or how they want to spend their family time.
