How different activities can help your child’s early age development?

Toddlers, it’s hard to imagine a more fitting name for this stage of development. Toddlers literally slide away from babyhood between the ages of one and three in quest of new adventures. They are developing their speaking, walking, and running skills as well as their independence.

However, you should also give your toddler opportunities to explore. That involves close supervision with opportunities to experience various environments. Giving children the flexibility and space to explore is a crucial aspect of fostering their development.

Here, we explore some of the top to teach kids about the effects of their actions. Water play becomes a big favourite when some physical strength and hand-eye coordination are added.

Dress Up Roleplay:

Let the kids’ imaginations go wild by gifting them with a variety of play outfits and accessories, such as toy doctor’s kits. The future doctor, engineer, nurse, astronaut, or cook will soon come to light. Dressing up helps children to begin to make sense of the adult world, roles, and interests, as well as boosts social interaction.  Plus, dressing up supports self-care behaviors that are crucial for success in elementary school.

Character and Doll Play:

Having dolls and mini-figure characters around encourages social play in both boys and girls. It promotes creative expression and identifying emotions.

Drawing & Painting:

Giving kids complete freedom with paints and sketching supplies allows them to express themselves, explore the world in a sensory way, and develop pre-writing skills. Additionally, it’s a call to study colour theory, mixing, and basic organization!

Shape Sorters, Jigsaw, and Blocks:

The roots of spatial thinking, logical reasoning, ordering, and identifying different forms, sizes, and colours are all laid by playing with blocks, jigsaw puzzles, and shape sorters.

Dance, Music, and Singing:

The child gains flexibility, strength, and coordination through dancing. Singing and music play a significant role in the development of language, the foundation of reading abilities, and simple mathematical ideas like counting. They also start to learn rhythm and improve their listening abilities.

Imaginative Play:

We’re talking about the kind of imaginative play that many kids naturally engage in, while all play should be imaginative. If you leave a young child with nothing but a random collection of items, you’ll soon discover them lost in a world of pretend. It’s crucial to allow children time and space for imaginative play. Their imagination grows as a result, and imagination is vital for the development of literacy and intellectual reasoning. Additionally, it improves their sense of self and self-worth, as well as their ability to make sense of the world around them and deal with boredom.

Jumping, Running, Climbing, Swinging:

Young children have a strong urge to move around. By giving kids the freedom to do this and offering challenges that are safe and age-appropriate, they may build resilience and self-assurance by taking calculated risks. Of course, gross motor skills also receive a mighty boost.

Sensory Play:

A play activity that includes touch, smell, taste, sight, and hearing is referred to as sensory play. A plate of jelly, aqua beads, ice, rice, or even little global tubs can be used to fulfill this. Playing with your senses encourages curiosity and the basics of science and inquiry.

Board Games:

There are plenty of board games that are suitable for even the youngest players, and these should be enjoyed not just for their amusement value but also for their educational potential. These activities are essential for teaching kids turn-taking and sharing in addition to early phonics, colours, shapes, and number-related subjects.

Cooking & Pretend-Cooking:

For kids to play, cooking, serving, and pretending to purchase are all the best options. Cooking itself combines elements of process-following, mathematical concepts, sensory play, and home safety.
